What is intuitive eating?

Intuitive Eating is basically what it sounds like…

Eating according to your intuition.

Listening to your inner wisdom - your internal cues - rather than following any external rules - diet plans, meals plans, calorie counting etc.

It sounds simple, but it is revolutionary!

Most people believe that we need to ‘control’ what we’re eating, or seek some sort of external guidance about what and how much to eat.

But this is simply NOT TRUE.

You already have everything you need.

You already know how to eat. You’ve just forgotten you do!

Intuitive eating is backed by scientific research, with more than 125 studies showing the numerous benefits, including;

  • more positive body image and body satisfaction

  • more healthful eating behaviours

  • reduced risk of disordered eating and eating disorders

  • increased pleasure in eating

  • improved health indicators such as blood pressure and blood lipids

  • lower risk of heart disease and type-2 diabetes

  • improved weight stability (decreased weight cycling or ‘yo-yo dieting’)

  • more positive self-regard

  • greater motivation to exercise for enjoyment

  • emotional resilience

  • improved mood

  • greater life satisfaction

What can intuitive eating do for you?

  • Rediscover the Joy of Eating

    Stop worrying and obsessing about what to eat. Feel free to eat what you want, when you want, without guilt. Feel confident in the knowledge that you can trust your body to tell you what you need. Be the expert of your body, and stop listening to confusing messaging about food and health.

  • Make Peace with your Body

    Feel free and confident in your body and stop comparing yourself to others. Be kind to yourself and let go of the constant negative thoughts about your body. Learn to appreciate the wonder of your body for what it can do. Respecting your body is a rebellious act. Join the revolution!

  • Learn to Move Intuitively

    Heal your relationship with exercise. Whether you avoid it completely, or you’re riddled with guilt and fear if you miss a workout, your body knows how it wants to move if you really learn to listen. If you only move to change your body, no wonder you hate it! Come find the joy in movement!
